Hi, Dr. Ruf. Your service bulletin many years ago got me into studying Rasch measures such as the CSS on the SB and the W-scores on the WJ. I just published a post on W-scores, with some applications in gifted educational placement. It has a simple chart that allows comparing (FSIQ) intelligence for across different ages (Which Dr. McGrew liked, Riverside was going to publish it, but needs reminding.). I also gave spreadsheet functions for coverting among: W, IQ@age, adult IQ, mental age, percentile@age1 and percentile@age2 which should be helpful for advocating for radical acceleration for gifted children.
I started to read your post but got so excited, I started to recommend your blog to others instead of finishing reading yet. I also recommend to you my new book that will go live today or tomorrow on Amazon, "Losing Our Minds: Too Many Gifted Children Left Behind." It's already live on B&N. In print and ebook. It's about good fit and access making all the difference in outcomes for people in the same levels of intelligence and promise. Anyway, I have total hip replacement 10/30 and am excited to get my energy and mobility back as quickly as possible. Thanks for sharing! I love what you have done.
Congratulations on the Kindle release today. Remind me please about the plans for putting Losing Our Minds (2024) into softcover print. When might that be?
Oh, and it is working well on B&N already if you want to order from them. I apparently assumed the cover for the Amazon one was fine but kdp doesn't think so, so now I'm waiting to hear back again and my cover artist is standing by (from Scotland!). I can't wait for you to dive in, Georgia!
I thought it would be today, but apparently the cover isn't quite right and I just found out. I am working with my cover designer as we get the next round of approval or not from kdp. It will be at least four more hours before I hear back from kdp and then we will do further fixing or it will go live. Thanks for asking. It's been a steep learning curve for me.
